What will i learn by then end of this course?

Upon completion of this course, participants will be well versed in git, github jupyter notebooks and software dockers. They will also have a strong fundamental introduction into reproducible data collection, management, and maintenance of analysis pipelines broadly. There will be an additional focus on neuroimaging and computational neuroscience analysis, but are broadly applicable to computation.

Who can join this course?

This course is open to anyone who would like to participate. Students with backgrounds in neuroscience, biomedicine, computer science, physics, electrical engineering, mathematics are well suited to this course. Python will be used throughout this course, so students should have experience with python or complete an online course in the language before the course begins.

I'm faculty, can i still participate in this course?

Absolutely! We ask participants who are already advanced in specific topics (like neuroanatomy, shell scripting) to consider joining as Topic Specialists. Topic Specialists are encouraged to hold a one online 'office hour' for other students to consult with questions on their specialty. Faculty and other professionals strongly encouraged to apply. There is no cost to participate in this course.

Where will this course take place?

This course is entirely online.

What kind of time commitment should I expect?

All students must commit at least 4 hours a week: 3 hours of learning material and 1 hour online meeting with their project group. Online ‘office hours’ will provided every week to assist students with milestone projects and course material.

How should I prepare for this course?

We will offer step-by-step tutorials to help you set up all of the software that we use in this course. The best way to prepare for this course in advance is to spend some time learning (or brushing up on) Python, as many of the resources we use are based in this language.
